A little trivia you may find of interest about our British Airways band tartan: It was commissioned by British Airways in the late 1990’s as part of their plane tailfin art series, Peter MacDonald, one of the world’s most respected tartan historians and hand weavers, designed the tartan using the colours of 18th- 19th century weavers William Wilson & Son of Bannockburn.
He took his inspiration for the design from the view from his studio window of the Munro 'Benyhone', also known as 'Ben Chonzie', or in Gaelic 'Beinn na h-eoin', which fittingly translates as 'Mountain of the Birds'. Twenty-five of BA’s planes had the tartan tailfin design.
