BAGS was formed from two golf sections affiliated to BOAC and BEA around the time that the two airlines merged to form BRITISH AIRWAYS in the 1970’s. We have a large regular membership who enjoy some amazing courses at exceptionally good value.
During the season from March to October we organise monthly day meetings, medals and roll ups. The medals alternate between South Bucks GC and Richings Park GC, both courses near Heathrow. Our day meetings offer coffee on arrival, lunch, 27 holes of golf in summer, two course dinner and prizes. At the end of the evening there is also a ball sweep.
Some meetings also include full English breakfast.
There are a number of BAGS trophies to be fought over, including the Bewshea Trophy which hails from the Imperial Airways days, first won in 1937!
We put forward teams to play against other airlines and golf societies.
Our annual Christmas ‘bash’ is a particular highlight of the year. A full day of fun and sometimes good golf is appreciated by all the members who play.
We welcome all golfers and the range of handicap indices within our membership is currently 8 to 40 so everyone should feel comfortable on the links! Apart from the social aspects of belonging to our society, it is a proven fact that golf has many positive physical benefits as well for your health.
