BA Clubs' Hurricanes Dragon Boat Club supports the Sreepur Village

Dragon Boat Sreepur

BA Clubs' Hurricanes Dragon Boat Club (HDBC) is one of the active sections of BA Clubs.  HDBC is supporting a retired BA employee, Rushna Master, who is competing in this year’s Vogalonga event in Venice.  The Vogalonga entails a 33 kilometre paddle from the Grand Canal, around the islands of Murano and Burano, across the lagoon and back into the Grand Canal, finishing at St Mark’s Square.

Rushna hopes to raise £13,301, to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Sreepur Village project which was started by BA staff in 1989.  Rushna only started dragon boating this year, and to take on a 33 kilometre challenge demonstrates her energy and commitment and just how quickly dragon boating can become part of one’s life.

If you are interested in giving dragon boat paddling a try, why not come along to one of our training sessions at the Silver Wing Sailing Club, on Silver Wing Lake, Wraysbury TW19 5AG?

During the summer we train on Monday and Thursday evenings, meeting at 6.30 pm, and on Saturday mornings meeting at 9.30 am.  All equipment, such as paddles and buoyancy aids, will be provided.  All you need to wear is light sports clothes (or similar) and old trainers or water shoes, which you don’t mind getting wet.  Non-swimmers are welcome, just let us know and we can make special arrangements for you.

We would love to hear from you.
