Athletics Club Back in Action!

The Athletics Section has returned to in-person events whilst continuing to conform with the rules and guidance of the government roadmap. On Tuesday evening we had a private event in Bedfont Lakes Country Park which had 16 of us complete laps of the parkrun course.

Then on Wednesday nine of us met to run from the club house in Hatton Road in the fourth of our winter five mile handicap runs. The previous run had been in early December so it was good to be back and to run in the warm and light of the last day of March.

We anticipate having weekly in-person events from now on, though we will continue with our programme of virtual and solo runs for those not yet able to join us. Our in-person events are likely to include:

  • Thursday 8th April - Timed mile run around the track in Feltham from 12:30. The club has held a monthly mile event for many years and whilst most of those over the last twelve months have been solo efforts it'll be good to be racing against each other - even if we are not yet able to rub shoulders.
  • Wednesday 21st April - "Cooper Test" at Kings College Track in Ruislip from 12:20. This is a fitness test to see how far you can run in 12 minutes - first performed by runners from BA on the same track 45 years ago, back in 1976, before the Athletics Section was formed.
  • Wednesday 28th November - The fifth and final Handicap of the winter series to be held at the Bedfont and Feltham club from 18:00.

All are welcome at our events - we are not currently enforcing membership. Current rules do mean that we do need to know in advance to expect you. For more information email or check out our latest news digest at
