Perks at Work: How I saved thousands!

Perks at Work: Saving thousands...!

WOW! Michael has saved thousands!

The Perks at Work programme has been available to BA staff and BA Clubs members for over a decade now – BA Clubs member Michael Sinclair signed up on Day One and has saved thousands of pounds with the programme – we caught up with him to find out how.

Shop and Save

Michael says that with just a little bit of organisation, it’s easy to use the discounts on a daily basis. He first started out with just the Sainsbury’s re-loadable card that gives him 5% off the Sinclair weekly food shop – it’s a top-up card so transactions are quick and easy to make from his PC or mobile phone.

My wife’s favourite is Costa Coffee.  We even purchased some as presents.

He has also registered for two other shopping cards: One for All and Love to Shop, both of which offer discounts at a wide range of retailers, yet he just has to manage a central card for each programme.

 Eating Out

The Sinclairs like to eat out and after a great meal, Michael explained its so easy to sit there and use the wifi network available in nearly every establishment to go online and bag himself an instant e-code to get a reduction on his bill.

As he often uses Perks at Work when he is out and about, Michael has the website saved as one of his favourites and he reckons it can take less than a minute to get a tasty discount!

Days Out

The Sinclairs are keen members of the National Trust, who are also part of the Perks at Work programme and it takes just a couple of minutes to print out a voucher before they set-off to get a discount on a range of National Trust items.

They also use the Perks at Work discount on Groupon offers as well as for hotels, weekend breaks and spa days.

Say it with Flowers

Most people buy or send flowers at some stage of the year, and Michael has been getting up to 12% off and 4% in WOW points with his favourite flower retailer Bunches.

Register your card for automatic saving

Another tip from Michael is to register your credit and debit cards with Perks at Work – whenever you use them at qualifying retailers, the WOW points simply get added automatically to your account. This is a useful way of getting something without even thinking about it!

And don’t forget the cinema!

Although Michael is not a big cinema-goer himself, he did mention that a number of his friends use the cinema discounts available on Perks at Work, where you can get up to 55% off standard ticket prices at most cinemas in the UK. You can even use this on your phone to jump long queues and get in early with a big saving, including food and drink at some cinemas!

A Happy Saver

Michael has recently taken retirement from BA – he and his wife have between them accumulated over seventy years service – and is now looking forward to taking things a bit easier, but always keeping an eye out for those Perks at Work savings! Happy retirement Michael!
