Welcome to the British Airways Rowing Section!
If you have ever fancied a go at rowing we would love to see you. Rowing is a great way to keep fit, is a very pleasant way of burning those calories and beats looking at a rep counter in the gym, as you pass along a lovely section of the Thames! Whether you fancy competitive rowing or just to keep fit, we will make you welcome, male, female or even join our friendly and successful junior squad!
We row for pleasure every Sunday morning all year and every Wednesday evening in the summer. Additionally the racing squad try to get out twice a week, depending on shiftwork. You will get hands-on help with rowing or sculling technique. You can then join us for regular outings on the water. If you learn to scull you can even be self-sufficient and take out one of the single scull boats whenever you please.
We are located in Staines on the River Thames. The British Airways Rowing Section is collocated with Staines Boat Club, 28 Riverside Drive, Staines, TW18 3JN. Riverside Drive is off Chertsey Lane or you can walk/cycle along the towpath 300m downstream from the Swan Hotel, next to the Staines railway bridge.

Is there a group of colleagues or friends who just fancy giving it a go? Staines BC run a light-hearted event called 'Pubs & Clubs'. The four of you will receive up to 5 one hour training sessions on the river with an experienced rower. They will then be your cox when you race against other similar crews at the Pubs and Clubs event. You will be guaranteed at least two races, from bridge to bridge in Staines. The event takes place in September, with training sessions you can arrange with your coach/cox beforehand. If you find you like it and want to continue then get in touch with us!
