The 2006/07 Bridge Season is now almost over and the main Teams and Pairs events have been concluded with Nancy Shaw, John Webster, Suzanne Avoth and Mick Mullet winning the Concorde Cup on January 15th whilst Peter Blundell and Ronnie Vass won the main Pairs Cup on February 24th.   

On January 8th the club held a heat of the BGB Simultaneous Pairs in which Suzanne Avoth and Mick Mullett won the club heat and finished a very creditable 32nd overall.

 At the beginning of March the BA Bridge club hosted a very successful ASCA tournament at the Holiday Inn Ariel Hotel in which 7 teams participated in an all play all round robin format event over 2 days.   

The BA team had a bad draw, with their opening match against defending champions El Al.  With each match being over ten boards there was little room for error and BA lost effectively by two boards. 

Two good results followed against Austrian and SAS leaving BA in a good position for the final day.   

However the last day started with BA’s next match against joint favourites Icelandair, who feature a couple of ex world champions in their team.  As expected the game went Icelandair’s way and with BA rotating their team to give everyone a game they failed to win another match finishing 5th Overall. 

The event had the perfect climax featuring the two leading teams with Icelandair taking on El Al in the final game.El Al were triumphant again to successfully defend their trophy. 

ASCA 2007 FULL RESULTS

International Bridge Week

 This year’s International Bridge Week will be organised by Icelandair and is being held in Alicante Spain from October 23rd to October 30th 2007.  As usual a number of BA Bridge club’s players will be participating in this very popular event. 

The annual challenge match with Delta will be played at the end of April.
