2008 - Christmas Tournament - London
This year we will be hosting our 35th Annual British Airways Badminton Clubs Christmas Tournament.
The event this year will be held on Saturday 29th November 2008.
The weekend will consist of the tournament held at Woking leisure Centre during the day and an evening reception at the BA Concorde Centre with a traditional Christmas Dinner, (please state if you require the vegetarian option) prize giving ceremony and dancing through until 1am to the sounds of our DJ.
The tournament format is ladies and mens double in the morning and mixed doubles in the afternoon. Players are drawn and placed in groups where they play with a different partner in each game so everyone will get plenty of varied games. The top two from each group go through to the quater finals/semi finals depending upon numbers of entrants. Depending on the numbers of groups a number of best runners up also proceed through.
If you are a non London based player and need accommodation we have negotiated a fantastic rate of just £58 per room per night for a single room, £63 a night for a double room and £68 a night for a triple room. All these rates are including breakfast.
Accommodation is at the Jurys Inn hotel at Hatton Cross This is a new hotel, only 3 years old and is located just 5 minutes walk from Hatton Cross Underground station so giving easy access to get to central London for sightseeing on the Piccadilly Line.
For Non-London based players the tournament package costs are
GBP 46 for a player and GBP 32 for non-playing supporter. This price includes all transport the Jurys Inn to the sports centre and back during the day and retrun trip to the Concorde Club on Saturday evening.
Closing date for entry is 24th November 2008 but please book your hotel accommodation direct with Jury's Inn as soon as possible to ensure you can secure your rooms.

Getting to Jury's Inn from Heathrow Airport
There are several ways to get from Heathrow to the Jury's Inn. The only one which takes you direct to the door of the hotel is the H9 Hotel Hoppa Bus costing £4 for a single journey.
Alternatively you can get a 285 bus to Hatton Cross bus station for free (then 5 mins walk to hotel). The third option, and probably the fastest is to get an Underground train from any of the terminals to Hatton Cross which will cost £3 (then 5 mins walk to hotel). Please note that there are no lifts or escalators at Hatton Cross Underground station so you will have to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs. If you wish to arrange alternative accommodation in England AND make your own transport arrangements to both the Tournament and Evening Reception the package cost will be GBP 36 per person for players and GBP 23 for non-playing supporters.

Friday 28th November
Overseas guests arrive - Hotel Accommodation at Jury's Inn, Hatton Cross. (You are welcome to attend the BA Club to play badminton on the Friday evening (from 7pm onwards) and join us in the bar afterwards.... Contact us on arrival and we will arrange to pick you up from the hotel)
Saturday 29th November
08:00 - Transport from Jurys Inn to Woking Leisure Centre
09:00 - Start of tournament
12:45 (approximately) - lunchtime break - food available to purchase at sports hall
13:30 (approximately) - restart tournament
17:00 - Tournament ends - transport back to Jury's Inn
19:15 - Transport from Jury's Inn to BA Concorde Centre for evening reception. Sit down for dinner at 20:00.
01:15 - end of evening reception - transport back to Jury's Inn
Costs for London based players who don't need accommodation are £14 to enter the tournament, £23 for evening reception or £36 for the whole event, so saving £1. To attend just the disco at the evening reception (after 21:30) the cost is £5.
