About

The Aviation section was formed in 1987 by a small group of aviation enthusiasts. Our aims were :-

1) To meet people within the airline with similar interests
2) Swap information
3) Organise trips and visits
4) Produce a monthly newsletter

What do we do as a section?

Well the newsletter is the focal point of the section and is produced each month. It contains a comprehensive Heathrow movements guide probably unrivalled in any other publication. There are also sections covering executive jets, production lists from for example, Airbus and reports from airfields and airports in the UK and around the world based upon members' sightings. There is also industry news including new orders and route news plus reports airshows, both civil and military from around the globe. High quality photographs are also included along with articles covering members' adventures at home and abroad. All in all, a very good read.

Subsidised trips are organised on an ad-hoc basis, with Airbus at Toulouse and Hamburg proving very popular. We also arrange flights in classic and vintage aircraft and these are always in demand, particularly piston aircraft such as the DC3 and DC4 and we are constantly looking at unusual aircraft to fly in.

We hold meetings from time to time, normally at the Concorde Centre, where members can chat over a drink or two and enjoy a slide show presented by one of our many keen photographers. We recently ran a quiz night with generous prizes which went down really well.

The section also holds an extensive library of aviation related material and receives copies of newsletters and magazines from other aviation societies. International registers are also available for reference purposes.
